1. Reservation and Payment

1.1 A deposit of 20% of the total tour cost is required to confirm your booking. Your booking will be considered confirmed only after the deposit has cleared.

1.2 If you book within 90 days of tour departure, full payment is required immediately to confirm your place.

1.3 All reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to limited availability of bikes and tour spots, we recommend early booking to avoid disappointment.

1.4 Sideways Expeditions and Tours reserves the right to decline bookings based on a participant’s fitness, health, or riding experience, where safety or feasibility is a concern. In such cases, any deposit paid will be refunded.

1.5 The final balance must be paid no later than 90 days prior to the tour departure date. Failure to pay in full by this date may result in cancellation of your booking and forfeiture of your deposit.

2. Cancellations and Refunds

2.1 All cancellations must be made in writing. The following charges will apply:

  • More than 90 days before departure: 20% deposit forfeited

  • 61–90 days before departure: 50% of total cost forfeited

  • 60 days or less before departure: 100% of total cost forfeited

2.2 If Sideways Expeditions and Tours must cancel a tour due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. natural disasters, political unrest, insufficient bookings), a full refund will be issued, or you may choose to transfer the funds to a future tour.

2.3 We recommend that all clients obtain comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, medical costs, loss of luggage, and trip interruption.

3. Tour Requirements

3.1 Participants must hold a valid motorcycle license and have sufficient riding experience to safely complete the tour. International licenses are accepted where legally valid.

3.2 All riders are responsible for operating their motorcycle safely and must obey local road laws and conditions.

3.3 Helmets must be worn at all times while riding. Appropriate protective gear is strongly recommended.

3.4 Riders must be able to understand and follow instructions in English, as safety briefings and guides will communicate in English.

4. Motorcycle Use and Damage

4.1 Tour motorcycles are provided in roadworthy condition. Riders are responsible for the care of the bike during the tour.

4.2 Any damage or loss caused to the motorcycle or related equipment due to negligence or accidents will be the responsibility of the rider and must be paid for in full.

4.3 Riders may be required to pay a security bond or damage excess prior to the tour commencing.

5. Liability and Risk

5.1 Adventure motorcycling involves inherent risks including accidents, injury, or unforeseen delays. By booking, you accept full personal responsibility for these risks.

5.2 Sideways Expeditions and Tours, its staff, and contractors are not liable for any loss, damage, or injury sustained during the tour, except where required by law.

5.3 You agree to waive all claims against Sideways Expeditions and Tours for any events arising from or in connection with the tour, except in cases of proven gross negligence.

6. Health and Fitness

6.1 It is your responsibility to ensure you are medically fit to participate in a motorcycle tour.

6.2 You must disclose any medical conditions that may impact your ability to complete the tour safely.

6.3 Sideways Expeditions and Tours may, at its discretion, deny participation if a rider’s health poses a risk to themselves or others.

7. Tour Changes and Itinerary Adjustments

7.1 We reserve the right to alter itineraries due to weather conditions, road closures, local laws, or safety concerns.

7.2 Substitution of accommodations or route modifications may occur without prior notice, although every effort will be made to maintain the integrity of the experience.

8. Travel Documents and Insurance

8.1 Riders are responsible for obtaining valid travel documents, including passports, visas, and international driving permits (if required).

8.2 Travel insurance is mandatory for all participants. Proof of coverage may be requested prior to departure.

9. Image Use and Privacy

9.1 By participating in our tours, you grant Sideways Expeditions and Tours permission to use images or video footage taken during the tour for promotional or marketing purposes, unless you specifically request otherwise in writing.

10. Governing Law

10.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and any disputes will be resolved in Queensland courts.
